As many of know I bought a 2010 Scion xB RS 7.0...

Well the problem is My wife(got married earlier than
planned) my step-daughter and myself are now Homeless, I
hate talking about it but I was having family issues and
was kicked out and we are living in a cheap motel paid by
a charity but time is running out and we still have no
options for living arrangements.

This is my question...

Anyone know if it is possible to trade in a car towards a
lower value car and get a check or something for the
difference in value?

I have had my B since Late March and it only has around
3050 miles and on the car is only 1 small scratch and it
is on the rear driver side door panel on the interior. It
has carbon fiber window trim, carbon fiber engine cover,
spoiler, alarm, Custom rims(also have stocks)and TRD cold
air intake

Also a 100,000 mile/ 7yr warranty with a few other extra
protection options.

I already saw a car i like if Geoff has anyway of doing
it.

A 2004 Mazda RX-8 that is at Alton Scion the same place I
bought the B.

I love my B but I need to think of my family and If means
loosing my B then so be it they are more important.

I am out of Ideas and I am Desperate so If anyone has any
ideas lemme know.

If you're making payments on the car, you have to pay it
off before you can even transfer the title. So whatever
"profit" you make has to go towards the lien on the xb. So,
with no other way to say it, no.

And unless you put a serious amount down on the car, it's
highly unlikely you'll make more than your payoff on trade-
in.

My question, with all due respect, is why did you buy a brand new car when you are unemployed and living in a motel paid for by charity?

Sell your car for as much as possible, pay off your loan and hopefully you put down a good down payment to get some money back (like eric said). I'm assuming you did since you got money from your accident.

Worry about your family first man. Don't worry about "how nice your car is". Buy a beater or something and find an apartment to live in. Get settled in and find a job. Finding a place for your family to live in, should be your #1 priority.

Also, on a side note, an rx8 is not a very practical choice for a family of 3.

Good luck man!

he paid cash, so yes you can trade it in on something cheaper and most likely get some sort of money back, however the rx-8 wouldnt be your best choice, we have a prius for around 10k that would work for you, 4dr, awesome mpg.

Suggestion - put the car up for private sale, then buy an early / mid 90's Corolla (fuel injected). They are inexpensive in every way and are very reliable.

that would work too, you will get more for the B selling it outright but I dont know how much time you have, thats why is suggested trading it, I will talk to my pre-owned manager tomorrow and see if I can help you out.

the cars paid in full? then yeah, if you trade it in,
you'll get the difference in cash/check whatever.

And I have to agree with staying away from the RX-8. Not to
tell you what to do, but if you're homeless and married
with a kid, you should probably stick to the $3k to $4k
range or lower - unless you like the idea of having the
nicest car in hopeville...

Corolla or Civic - cheap, reliable, and most importantly -
cheap to fix.

intercepter for 6,995 with 78k miles even has the
spotlight still lol i like it but if possible i'd rather
a more gas efficent car, I saw a prius that u have in ur
used area...Do they really get that high of mpg?

Search Craigslist for "snapped timing belt" or "bad clutch" or "head gasket".  All of which I can fix and you come out ahead when you buy something with good interior for $500 + JTCustoms parts/labor.  My friend Megan got a 99 Explorer for $350 and we put another $600 in parts in it and now she's got a $4500 clean vehicle that passed safety and emissions.
